Borough Market: London’s fresh food heaven

December 8, 2015

Hidden just behind London Bridge station is Borough Market; one of the city’s largest and oldest food markets. This maze of fresh produce and yummy treats is only a short walk away from my office but shamefully I’ve only made a handful of brief visits over the last two years. I decided this needed to … More Borough Market: London’s fresh food heaven

光復香港時代革命
The first backstreet I snapped in Lisbon 😍 I just fell in love with classic Portuguese architecture. Similar Iberian vibes as Barcelona which I also love (but of course Barcelona is in an architectural category of its own!). Tell me which European country you think has the best looking backstreets!
Been super busy the last few weeks but I’ve still got lots of Portugal photos I want to share! Did you even go to Lisbon if you didn’t see a yellow Tram 28? 🤔🚋 🇵🇹It’s a cliched tourist thing to do but I loved riding the old trams! Reminded me of happy memories from Hong Kong 😊🇭🇰
As well as tiled facades, Lisbon’s also known for its cool street art 🎨 Accidentally found this wall while on the hunt for gelato.
The first of many tile posts! These beautiful decorative walls can come in different colours but white and blue is the most common combination. The tiles are called ‘azulejos’, derived from the Arabic word ‘alzulij’ which means ‘polished stone’ (and ‘azul’ is Portuguese and Spanish for ‘blue’). Arabic culture (known then as the Moors/Moorish culture) has heavily influenced the Iberian peninsula since Islamic Arabs crossed into the area in the 8th century and ruled the peninsula for around 500 years. Land that was to become the Kingdom of Portugal was gradually reconquested from the Muslim principalities and Alfonso III became the first King of Portugal. I learnt SO much about Portuguese history in my two weeks there, both ancient and modern.
Forever chasing sunsets on my trips. It’s logistical agro and sometimes I just can’t be bothered but I’m (almost) always glad I do. I shot this one handheld on a bit of a whim but it’s turned out to be a bit of a hidden gem post-processing. Seeing the sunset over different cities and counties is one of my favourite parts of travelling 😍🌇
