About me

Hello! I’m Emma – a 28 year old Brit with an itch for travelling, photography and story telling.

My travels started when I was a tiny tot. My dad is an airline pilot so I spent the first couple of years of my life being carted around as blonde curly-haired hand-luggage to all kinds of amazing places that I only wish I could remember. I also grew up listening to my dad’s stories about a world that was exciting, colourful, diverse and so easily explored. I got hooked early on!

My first solo trip was back to my ‘second home’ Hong Kong when I was 21. The following year, I took an amazing 3 month trip round Asia. After finishing my bachelors degree in Politics & International Relations, I went back into full-time work in local government in London.

Like most avid travellers, I’ve spent the pandemic years feeling super restless, trapped at home dreaming of travelling again, but also very grateful for the small things in life. (I also started a home bakery business! I discovered decorating cookies is VERY therapeutic).

Now the pandemic has (hopefully) subsided, I’m reviving this blog and getting back out into the world. In August this year, I’m about to embark on my biggest and most adventurous solo trip yet! 4.5 months through south-east Asia – Bangkok to Bali!

As well as travelling, I’m also passionate about human rights and civil rights issues. I’m always looking to learn more and engage with other people about these important topics and I post about these on here from time to time.

I’m also a bit of a language nerd. Aside from my native English, I can speak/read various amounts of Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese. I’m currently learning Thai and Indonesian ahead of my big trip this year!

If you want to learn a bit more about me, you can check out my Twitter (for on-going global political commentary, if that’s your thing) and Instagram (for my travel photography).

Thanks for coming by!
