About me

Living the toddler dream. Munching a chocolate doughnut on the flight deck as my Dad personally flew us to the Maldives!

Hello! I’m Emma – a 28 year old Brit with an itch for travelling, photography and story telling.

I grew up as the daughter of an airline pilot and spent the first couple of years of my life being carted around as blonde curly-haired hand-luggage to all kinds of amazing places that I only wish I could remember. I also grew up listening to my dad’s stories about a world that was exciting, colourful and so diverse. A place that was accessible and just waiting to be explored.

As well as travelling, I’m also passionate about human rights and civil rights issues, particularly those in Asia. I’m always looking to learn more and engage with other people about these important topics.

I’m also a bit of a language nerd. Aside from my native English, I can speak/read various amounts of Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish and French. I’m still learning! I also speak very small amounts of Arabic, Italian and Japanese. (My secret nerdy party trick is being able to count in 8 different languages…).

In September 2016, I came back from an amazing 3 month solo trip round Asia and went back into full-time work after finishing my bachelors degree. Having not been travelling since 2019 (hello pandemic), I’m restarting travel blogging in between talking about contemporary global problems that I’m passionate about, like international civil rights, freedom of press and refugee crises.

If you want to learn a bit more about me, you can check out my Twitter (for on-going global political commentary!) and Instagram (for my travel photography).

Thanks for reading!
