Senso-ji Temple at night: Tokyo

September 20, 2018

Here’s the first of my photo-heavy posts. I went twice to Senso-ji Temple and it was undoubtedly one of my favourite places in Tokyo. It’s Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple and was originally built in the year 628 but was destroyed in a bombing raid during 1945. I took several hundred photos but I’ll only share … More Senso-ji Temple at night: Tokyo

Giant rainbow candy floss in Harajuku, Tokyo!

September 15, 2018

Anyone who’s spent enough time on Instagram will have seen this infamous candy floss originating from Tokyo’s trendy Harajuku district. I basically just bought an obnoxiously large rainbow candy floss and I regret nothing! … More Giant rainbow candy floss in Harajuku, Tokyo!

Hedgehog cafe in Shibuya, Tokyo

September 14, 2018

This is clearly the quality content you’ve subscribed for. I’ve slowly been ticking things off the ‘hipster to-do’ list in Tokyo and I regret nothing. Yesterday I went to a hedgehog cafe – perhaps the first of it’s kind anywhere?! But that’s Japan for you; purveyors of niche crazes that travel far and wide. The … More Hedgehog cafe in Shibuya, Tokyo

Tokyo’s standing sushi bars

September 12, 2018

Yes, the clue is in the name. Today’s post is about sushi bars in Tokyo that are standing-room-only. Reasonably priced sushi which is freshly prepared in front of you. Two friends of mine recommended one in Shinjuku and I also stumbled across one in Shibuya. For all intense and purposes, they’re the same but I’ll … More Tokyo’s standing sushi bars

I’m in Tokyo! Day 1 thoughts on Japan

September 10, 2018

After about 10 years of wishing and waiting, I’m actually in Japan!! I’m here for 18 days before I fly to Hong Kong and I’m going to hold myself to writing a blog post every day of my trip because, let’s be honest, I’m terrible at writing posts in good time. A short and sweet … More I’m in Tokyo! Day 1 thoughts on Japan

Travelling solo is the most empowering thing I’ve done and I want as many women as possible to experience the same! 💪 There will always be people who say it’s not safe for women but the truth is danger can be around the corner in your hometown too. Don’t let other people’s perceptions of the world hold you back. Travelling solo doesn’t mean throwing all caution to the wind. You can do it whilst still looking out for yourself! #womenwhoexplore #sheisnotlost #wearetravelgirls #dametraveler If you visited Thailand and didn’t ride a tuk tuk, did you even go? 👀🛺 I always used to feel hard done by if I got a cloudy day on a photography trip, especially when I’d flown thousands of miles and was only there for a week max, arghh. Where are my blue skies?! ☁️☀️I think I got better rolling with it on my trip last year though. Still trying to work out my shooting and editing style for cloudy days. Trying to remind myself it’s good to be pushed outside your comfort zone every now and then 🙌 Back to Wat Pho for today’s photo! And yes the sky really was that blue ☀️😎 So welcome after days of crazy wind and torrential Bangkok rain! 💨☔️ (Check out my Stories for a candid accidental selfie taken on one of those days 😂) So busy and colourful - sums up Bangkok’s Chinatown! Food smells, heat, so much noise… Hands down my favourite part of Bangkok 😍🇹🇭 More temple snaps! Also called Wat Pho, this is one of Bangkok’s oldest temples and home to the famously big Reclining Buddha statue. The temple was originally built in late 1600s but was renovated in the late 1700s by order of King Rama I and that’s the version we see today. I love learning local history on my travels! 🤓
